I am located in Northern Virginia and meet with clients virtually across the state. I meet with clients fully virtual at this time. As long your address is in the state of Virginia, we are able to meet.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, with the exception of some cases. In session, we often start off by reviewing what was discussed the previous week and following up on any concerns, updates, or homework assignments that were given. I tell my clients that I take the approach of “they lead and I follow”. What the client feels is important to talk about is ultimately what we focus on.

Many of my clients start out as weekly clients. Every few weeks I will do check-ins and send out symptom rating scales to track how your symptoms are. After seeing improvement or maintenance of symptoms, we can move to bi-weekly or monthly meeting times if requested or discussed.

This really depends on the client and can look very differently. Some clients come to therapy on a short term basis and will progress and discharge out of therapy in a couple of months. However, some clients request weekly therapy for years. This also depends on the severity of the symptoms or trauma experiences, as well as your personal preference.

Many people believe in person therapy is better than virtual, however I’ve found that both are very effective. I am currently providing services online only at this time. I have been able to successfully connect with teens and young adults virtually. If I feel like the client will truly benefit from in person therapy over virtual, I am happy to provide referrals for another nearby in-person therapist.
